No Loss of Well Control
Unintended Influx or Kick managed with a defined well control method but with no complications. No uncontrolled flow occurs.

Type of Operation |
Description |
|
Drilling |
While drilling ahead with MPD, rig personnel steadily increased surface pressures to balance an increases in gas trends. Near TD of the well, the surface applied backpressure exceeded the rig’s MPD back pressure limit. The well was shut-in on the BOP and killed using the driller’s method.

Drilling |
During tripping operations, improper hole fill is noted on the trip sheet. A flow check is performed, and the well is confirmed to be flowing. The crew trips back to bottom, closes the annular, circulates out a gas influx, and increases mud density to kill the well and re-establish the desired overbalance.

|
Completion |
While drilling out frac plugs using jointed pipe and a snubbing unit, wellbore pressure rises significantly. In order to reduce the wellbore pressure, the wait and weight method is used to remove gas from the wellbore and circulate in higher density completion brine.

|
Workover |
While unseating a production packer prior to an up hole recomplete the well suddenly begins to flow. The TIW valve on the tubing is closed and the annular preventer is used to shut in the well. The influx is bullheaded back into the formation and kill weight fluid is circulated into the well. A final flow check confirms the well is static.
